UvA’s Systems and Networking Lab Divides to Grow

The Systems and Networking Lab (SNE) at the Informatics Institute, UvA, has split into three new research groups. This will enable better focus into each research field: Complex Cyber Infrastructure, MultiScale Networked Systems and Parallel Computing Systems.

The SNE group is known for its fundamental problem-driven research on computer and network systems. These systems are growing in size and complexity, as is the SNE research group. For this reason, the group has been split into three:

  • Complex Cyber Infrastructure – Led by Cees de Laat, focuses on sharing data in a trustable and transparent way within the complex cyber infrastructure.
  • MultiScale Networked Systems -Led by Paola Grosso, focuses on how multi-scale systems and the networks connecting these systems can work together as efficiently as possible.
  • Parallel Computing Systems – Led by Andy Pimentel, focuses on system optimization of multi-core and multi-processor computer systems.

A fourth group will be added, the Security By Design (SBD) group, led by Francesco Regazzoni.
